1. Select a randomly wrapped box as a test sample from the available outer boxes
If your factory is conducting packaging tests, random selection ensures that you get a representative sample.
Choose boxes that are already packed according to packing specifications. All products and packaging in the box should have already been inspected for any quality defects or issues. In this way, we can confirm that newly identified defects are due to drop testing of the package itself rather than production.
2. Find a suitable test area on a flat, hard floor
Do not allow the cardboard to come into contact with other objects during the fall as this may lead to unreliable results. Using a hard-floor test area provides a better simulation of shipping conditions, with nothing to cushion the case from dropping.
3. From a suitable height, drop the box ten times from different sides.
First, weigh the box to determine a standard height suitable for drop testing. Most factories should have an industrial scale available for on-site inspectors.
Then turn the shipping carton and look directly at the side with the manufacturer’s joint on the right. A manufacturer’s seam is the part of the package where the box is usually glued, stapled, stitched, or taped together. It is considered the most fragile part of the carton. If you can’t see the manufacturer’s seam, place him on one of the narrowest sides of the shipping box in front of you. Drop the box from the appropriate height and angle according to the table below. Rotate the box in the following order keep dropping it from the left and right, and drop the box a total of 10 times.
4. Open the box and check the condition of the box and its contents
