One of the best packaging testers is the drop tester. This is very helpful in determining shipping prices for solid fiber crates, containers, and corrugated cartons. The packaging industry is equipped with a wide variety of testing equipment. With the increasing use of e-commerce products, many sellers are selling their products online. This helps them acquire a large customer base. There are several drop test machine suppliers in India but there are few that provide high quality products.
Providing your customers with the best products will get you the best answers from them. This not only increases the value of the product but also earns customer trust. Therefore, various packaging testing equipment must be used before the final product is delivered to the customer. With so many packaging testers on the market, choosing the best one can be difficult. Drop tests are also useful for measuring the strength of certain materials such as shipping containers, fiber crates, etc. The use of drop testers has certain features. Drop tests are performed using this packaging tester. We’ve made a list of the features you’ll get if you choose this device for your drop test.
Features of Drop Tester
As explained above, the main purpose of using drop testers is to optimize the packaging of goods during transit. The packaging has been optimized with various packaging tests. This may be why many manufacturers use a variety of package inspection tools to determine perfect product delivery. You can easily read them to understand how effective this machine is.
A guide mechanism can be used to lift the test platform
- You can easily estimate the impact of impacts emitted by the product during transportation. This advanced machine has a strong base plate and sturdy construction, which helps determine the safety of customers easily.
- Another important feature of this machine is that it has an adjustable clamp that allows you to easily test it at different angles.
Now let’s take a look at the five box drop test steps you or your inspector can take to validate the quality of your package.
1. Select a randomly wrapped box as a test sample from the available outer boxes
If your factory is conducting packaging tests, random selection ensures that you get a representative sample.
Choose boxes that are already packed according to packing specifications. All products and packaging in the box should have already been inspected for any quality defects or issues. In this way, we can confirm that newly identified defects are due to drop testing of the package itself rather than production.
2. Find a suitable test area on a flat, hard floor
Do not allow the cardboard to come into contact with other objects during the fall as this may lead to unreliable results. Using a hard-floor test area provides a better simulation of shipping conditions, with nothing to cushion the case from dropping.
3. From a suitable height, drop the box ten times from different sides.
First, weigh the box to determine a standard height suitable for drop testing. Most factories should have an industrial scale available for on-site inspectors.
Then turn the shipping carton and look directly at the side with the manufacturer’s joint on the right. A manufacturer’s seam is the part of the package where the box is usually glued, stapled, stitched, or taped together. It is considered the most fragile part of the carton. If you can’t see the manufacturer’s seam, place him on one of the narrowest sides of the shipping box in front of you. Drop the box from the appropriate height and angle according to the table below. Rotate the box in the following order keep dropping it from the left and right, and drop the box a total of 10 times.
4. Open the box and check the condition of the box and its contents
A box fails the box drop test if the test reveals any of the following issues:
Severe damage to export cartons
Significant damage to the interior and sales box
Damage such as deformation, scratches, dents, etc. inside the product
Product functionality issues resulting from testing or product and packaging safety issues
What is “significant damage” to courier drop test boxes and wooden frames?
Some deformation of the box after the drop test is normal. For example, the corners and edges of boxes can easily become dented. However, all products must be completely fixed inside. If the carton has many normal deformations and there is no damage to the products inside, the carton passes.
5. Adjust the box drop test as needed
Some buyers may need to test from a higher height or from different angles to properly test the package. If this is your first shipment of a particular product or from a particular supplier, you will need to try different packaging drop test standards to ensure your packaging is adequate.
Thus you can see the several uses of drop test machine and how the machine should be used.
