Maleic Anhydride is a white, crystalline solid and has a very unpleasant smell. It is a cyclic anhydride of maleic acid. Maleic anhydride can be used in a range of industrial applications because of its structure, which includes two acid carbonyl groups and a double bond. The source is organic malic acid. The first maleic anhydride as well as maleic and fumaric acids were developed in the 1830s.
Both procedures include adding butane and benzene to a hot air stream and heating them at much higher temperatures before allowing them to pass through a catalyst bed. Vanadium phosphate is used as a catalyst in the butane method, whereas vanadium pentoxide and molybdenum trioxide are used in the benzene method.
The leading regions with the highest imports of maleic anhydride Bahamas and Bermuda and is followed by Spain and the United Kingdom.

Industrial Uses Impacting Maleic Anhydride Price Trend:
A highly reactive chemical intermediate, maleic anhydride has current and future applications in almost every area of industrial chemistry.
Maleic Anhydride serves as the raw material for the production of 1,4-butanediol, y-butyrolactone, succinic acid, unsaturated polyester resin, and alkyd resin. Pesticides and medicines both use it. It functions as a collector in metal dressing, is utilised in organic synthesis, and also serves as an intermediary in the production of synthetic fibres. Maleic anhydride is a crucial unsaturated organic anhydride chemical product that is used to make diethyl maleate, a precursor to malathion, 1-phenyl-3, 6-dihydroxypyridazine, a precursor to pyridazin, and a precursor to pyrethroid insecticides like permethrin, fungicide, and captan. In addition, it is employed in the creation of unsaturated polyester resin, coatings, ink and paper additives, and products for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
